Books, music, movies, games, and more that I like/recommend.

I Heart Pixels
R. Stevens draws awesome pixellated artwork. This Pac-man-themed image is my new desktop background. :)
Hitman 2 and Hitman: Contracts
More games should be this good. While the story is linear, gameplay is not. There are multiple ways to accomplish each hit, some more difficult than others. Cool weapons, plenty of disguises, and that old favorite: piano wire. It's Thief without the stupid medieval setting, or Metal Gear Solid without the lame "people disappear after they die" schitck. One shot, one kill; even more satisfying is to sneak up behind someone with the piano wire in hand and "chokey, chokey"! If you prefer something with more mayhem, it can also be Grand Theft Auto with you spraying automatic weapons fire into civilians. Hitman 2 is a little buggy in spots; start with Contracts.
Voices of a Distant Star
The movie's last line of dialog haunts me to this day. This movie is all the more impressive given the primitive tools with which it was made: a single Mac G4.
The Left Hand of Darkness
I love most of Le Guin's writing, but if I had to choose one book, it would be this one. The afterward has an interesting commentary on the book's use of pronouns.
Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here"
A great song on a good album.
Yoko Kanno's "Myung's Theme"
From the Macross Plus soundtrack. Kanno is one of my favorite modern composers. Of his compositions, this one means the most to me.
Paul Van Dyk's Reflections
If you want to dip your toe in the stream that is electronica, start here. I especially enjoyed tracks 2 ("Time of Our Lives"), 5 ("Nothing But You"), 6 ("Buenaventura"), 12 ("Spellbound"), and 13 ("Kaleidoscope"). This album in particular is great driving music, but don't play it so loud you can't hear the radar detector. :)
